Art as Politics
Visual artist Sandra Sawatzky talks about conceiving and creating her 70 metre long “film on cloth” The Black Gold Tapestry. The tapestry, which took her almost a decade to create, will next appear at the MassArt Museum in Boston. Her work has been featured widely including in the New York Times and the Guardian. Sandra talks to Kerrie Penney about her indefatigable creative energy, leading a purposeful life, and the importance of creating new works of art as a way to make sense of the world.
